Walther P22 Tandem Koss Captured Guide Rod Review
Walther P22 Sentinel Captured Jump Guide Rod from TandemKross installed. Lol. Sorry it'south not visible.
Addressing the simply complaint I've e'er had well-nigh my Walther P22, TandemKross came upward with their "Sentinel" Captured Spring Guide Rod. Now, I'm not suggesting that they did this just for me. The Walther P22 is a very pop compact .22LR pistol. Almost are reliable and authentic, and they can be had at a reasonable cost, new or used. Functioning is simple, and takedown is like shooting fish in a barrel, requiring no tools. Only the long recoil spring and brusk guide rod make reassembly a challenge. For $19.99, at that place's an easy fix that takes most two minutes to install.
Smarter design
In the photo below is the mill guide rod and jump, with the "Picket" below it. You tin encounter that the factory spring is longer than the guide rod. When trying to reassemble the Walther P22, that spring is just all over the place. It's like fighting with an angry eel. TandemKross simply designed a "captured" spring that's retained within a rod that'southward closed on both ends. Two pieces are now 1.
Installation
This is another one of those "takes longer to type than it does to actually do information technology". After verifying that the P22 is unloaded, pull down the mechanism inside the front of the trigger guard. Pull the slide dorsum, lift, and carefully bring it forward, watching for the spring to squirt and try to hit you in the face up. Drib the new rod in, flat end downwardly into the frame. That should leave the terminate with the petty dome facing forward.
With the butt pointed at an upward angle, identify the slide over it, and made sure the guide rod falls into place. Pull the slide back into position, and motility the locking mechanism back up into identify. If the slide doesn't want to go all the way back, check to make certain that little locking cake isn't already up. If my caption isn't simple plenty, this video from TandemKross may help. And fifty-fifty it is only iii:34 long. Yes, it's that simple.
At present what?
With the "Lookout man" Captured Spring Guide Rod in place, cleaning is no longer a daunting task. While I can't prove or disprove the claim that this will meliorate accurateness, I did my ain research before ordering this office. On an independent site, not related to TandemKross, there were 57 reviews, with 4.7 out of 5 possible stars. And 96% stated that they would recommend to a friend. The sole 1 star review was from someone who received a similar, but really incorrect, role. So don't take my discussion, take theirs. Most reported far less jams with the new guide rod in identify, which is noteworthy.
On the TandemKross site, there were 185 reviews when I checked. Ferney, from Costa Rica, left a 4 star review, but his only comment was to ask if they send to Republic of costa rica. Three customers had some sort of issue, just that's why TandemKross offers their lifetime guarantee.
Decision
If you have a Walther P22, yous probably either love it or hate it. If yous dearest it, you lot're going to shoot it a lot, And then hate when y'all take to make clean it. So this product is for yous. If y'all detest it, it may be because either it jams more frequently than a rimfire should, or you detest cleaning it. Either way, this production is for y'all. And once again, the warranty makes it virtually risk-gratuitous. The folks are TandemKross are all about customer service. If something doesn't work, they'll make it right.
My own Walther P22 didn't function whatsoever differently, as it was already both reliable and authentic as long as it has a steady nutrition of high velocity ammo. Peradventure considering it's older product? I don't know. Only I practise know that associates after cleaning is easier. Then I'd similar to give thanks TandemKross for providing their "Sentinel" for this evaluation. Once again, they've made a good gun great, and at an affordable toll.
